Scholars celebrate success at Cottenham Village College.

Scholars and staff at Cottenham Village College, part of Astrea Academy Trust, are today celebrating another year of fantastic GCSE results.

Teenagers across the country are receiving the results from exams they took earlier this year in May and June. Despite having many challenges to face, 15 and 16 year olds have recorded excellent achievements at GCSE, with the scholars of CVC no exception, as the school celebrates a rise in their overall attainment.

Staff at CVC have gone above and beyond to ensure our scholars were as prepared as possible for their GCSEs. Our year 11 scholars made incredibly good use of the additional revision sessions during the school holidays, after school, and during the exam period enabling them to access specialist support regularly throughout their final year. Staff were impressed with the diligence and work ethic of the year group.

The extra support paid off with many scholars achieving excellent results.

Among the high performers include:

  • Oskar achieving ten 9s
  • Oliver achieving seven 9s and two 8s
  • Kaveesha achieving six 9s and two 8s
  • Lucas achieving seven 9s three 8s and one 7
  • Jacob achieving six 9s and four 8s

Hanan McKeand, Interim Principal at CVC, said

“A huge well done to our amazing scholars. Their hard work, commitment and determination have shone through, and we couldn’t be prouder of what they have accomplished.

It has been a real pleasure to see so many happy, smiling faces in school today as students celebrated a fantastic set of results. They have worked incredibly hard and thoroughly deserve their success.

We congratulate every one of our CVC scholars and wish them the very best of luck as they move onto exciting new opportunities and adventures.”

Rowena Hackwood, CEO for Astrea Academy Trust, said:

“Many congratulations to all of our young people who are receiving their GCSE results today. I know they have worked so hard to get to this point and should feel very proud of what they have achieved, alongside the support from their families and the whole school community.

“Special thanks to the whole team at CVC who have supported our students with their studies. I am especially proud that we continue to chart the success of our young people as we mark the 10th anniversary of Astrea Academy Trust.”
