A secondary school at the heart of a small community, Cottenham Village College works hard to engage with local families. Our school has a strong academic focus, with a diverse and engaging curriculum on offer and a wide range of subjects both at Key Stage 3 (years 7 to 9) and Key Stage 4 (years 10 and 11). Our subjects are taught by subject specialists, and sequenced in a way that ensures systematic and thorough teaching. Learning is the core purpose and function of CVC and we strive to deliver educational excellence.
In order to get the best out of students, teachers set rigorous standards in terms of behaviour and attendance. Students are encouraged to develop respect for themselves, their peers and staff members.
We believe this is a right of all pupils and one which is liberating and empowering. Through the curriculum we aim to foster pupils’ curiosity and raise their aspirations, as well as ensure that pupils achieve high levels of attainment that will open doors for their future. A stimulating and broad curriculum also places pupils in a strong position to question and debate the world around them, making them intellectually resilient and preparing them for citizenship in a democratic society.
