Why Study at Cottenham Sixth Form?
Students have excellent opportunities and the best possible support for achieving their potential. This is a relaxed and friendly college with a sense of mutual respect, identity and purpose. Everyone is treated as an individual.
Superb facilities and resources
Cottenham’s purpose built college is bright and spacious with excellent accommodation for teaching and learning.
Courses to match abilities and interests
We have a range of excellent vocational courses. The exact details of your programme will depend on your interests and skills.
You will also have opportunities to pursue extra curricular activities such as working towards gaining the Duke of Edinburgh Award or taking on many different responsibilities.
Outstanding support, care and guidance
Our highly qualified and experienced staff will teach you to the highest standards and provide the support you need.
Carefully tailored and meaningful work experience is an optional but important part of the week for many of our students. We have a dedicated coordinator whose role it is to find and manage placements for young people who have demonstrated a readiness to try out the workplace. We have successfully placed students in a wide variety of businesses, ranging from radio stations to florists, hairdressers, nurseries, building suppliers, cafes and hotels. Students typically make their own way to placements and attend one day each week throughout school term time.
Not only do we believe in providing a first-class learning environment, we offer numerous opportunities for you to develop your personal and social skills through an extensive range of enrichment opportunities. You will have the option to take on extra responsibility through the Student Leadership programme: this could include being on the Sixth Form Student Council, running Sixth Form social events or coordinating charity work.
We also offer a range of residential and day trips designed to enhance both academic learning and social or sporting development.
A wide range of sports, clubs and societies are available as well as opportunities to participate in The National Citizenship Scheme.
Destinations After Sixth – Form
In addition to personal development and working towards gaining qualifications, a large part of the focus at Cottenham Sixth Form College is around preparedness for whatever choices come next. After their time with us, students usually move on to further study at a local college or go straight into employment.
