Adam Scourfield has been named as the new headteacher of Cottenham Village College.
His appointment follows the Trust’s announcement in October that outgoing principal Zoe Andrews was set to move on from the school at the end of the current term to become the principal of King James Academy, in Royston.
Mr Scourfield, who is currently a senior leader at Goresbrook School in Dagenham, Essex, will start at CVC initially for one day a week in April 2026, before taking up the role full-time from June 1.
The Trust described Mr Scourfield as an “experienced leader, having led Gorsebrook School – which was rated ‘outstanding’ in all areas by Ofsted in 2024 – as interim principal during two periods of the principal’s maternity leave.
Mr Scourfield, who is also a composer, graduated from the University of Leeds in 2008 with a degree in music.
He trained as a teacher at Canterbury Christ Church University and also has an MA in education from Anglia Ruskin University.
Adam Scourfield said: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining Cottenham Village College and the wider Astrea Academy Trust.
“The school already has strong foundations, and I am confident that together we can build on this success to make Cottenham one of the very best schools in the country.
“I am particularly looking forward to working closely with the families and wider community.
“I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to deliver an exceptional education for our young people.”
