Dear Prospective Pupils and Families,
Welcome to Cottenham Village College and our Open Evening page. We are extremely proud to be a village college: unique to Cambridgeshire, Henry Morris envisaged a model of schools that would serve the whole community. We are part of this special group of schools: providing education for our pupils alongside leisure facilities and an extensive adult learning programme. Cottenham is at the heart of the community and a true model of lifelong learning.
We believe in learning for all, this is our core purpose and function. At the heart of this is a rigorous, coherent and well-structured knowledge-rich curriculum: our subjects at both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 are taught by specialists and sequenced in a way that ensures systematic and thorough teaching.
We believe this excellent educational experience is a right of all pupils and one which is liberating and empowering. Our stimulating and broad curriculum aims to foster our pupils’ curiosity, raise their aspirations and enable them to achieve highly. All of this opens doors for our pupils and places them in a strong position to question and debate the world around them.
Our GCSE results are excellent and place us in the top 20% of schools nationally. The progress and success that our pupils enjoy allows them to flourish in their studies beyond CVC; they are ready and equipped to go on and study at some of the best sixth form colleges in the country.
Put simply, we have high expectations of our pupils. We all endeavour to work hard for and with them to support them to achieve their very best and flourish as confident learners.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions or queries about the transition process.
