Year 11 Leaving arrangements
As year 11 enter their final months at Cottenham Village College I am pleased to report that spirits are high and the vast majority of our students appear organised, motivated and prepared.
This year it has been particularly tricky to identify an appropriate year 11 ‘leavers day’ due to a significant increase in the number of exams. There is evidence to suggest that many of our students perform better in their exams if they are lead through their revision by teachers in classrooms. Therefore, we have opted to set the leavers’ day slightly later than in previous years.
This year the final full day of school for our year 11 students will be Friday 9th June. Up until this time all students are expected to attend school each day (8:50am – 3:10pm). After this point students will only be expected in school:
- to attend lessons for subjects for which they have not yet sat their exam
- to attend an exam
If a student attends school after the 9th June to sit an exam or attend a lesson they have the option to leave the school site once they have finished. Alternatively they can make use of the designated study room until the end of the school day.
As there are exams in the morning and afternoon on Friday 9th June sadly, it is not possible to hold a farewell event that day. However, I would like to invite year 11 students to school on the morning of Wednesday 21st June for a celebration of their time at Cottenham Village College. On this day students are welcome to arrive in time for registration at 8:50am. They will need to be in full school uniform. Celebrations will conclude at 11:30am at which point students will need to leave the school site.
I would also like to use this opportunity to invite you to a previously unannounced event. On Friday 16thJune, between 5pm-7.30pm, please join us to celebrate the achievements of our year 11 Design and Technology and Art students. The exhibition of work will be in the 6th form atrium.
