Year 11 independent study time

13 June 2023

Dear Parents/Carers of Year 11 students

We have been incredibly impressed by the fantastic attitudes displayed by our Year 11 students over this examination period. We are confident at this stage, having completed many successful exams, that all members of the year group are able to independently prepare for the remaining few exams that take place over the next week, therefore, for the remaining period of exams the students can make the decision to remain in school and study, using their timetabled lessons or to work from home. Our recommendation is that students attend school wherever possible to make the most of the opportunity of support a subject-specialist teacher.

For those students who do decide to use independent study time, there will be an opportunity to leave school in the window directly after an exam and to enter the school reception for afternoon exams between 1.15-1.25pm.  We will not be facilitating entry and exit to reception outside of these windows, due to the disruption this presents to the rest of the school who are still working.

When students attend school, whether for exams or for study sessions with their timetabled teachers, the expectation remains that students are in full school uniform and abiding by all school policies, including the use of mobile phones on site.

There are a few items that need to be returned to school in the final few days such as locker keys, any borrowed subject resources. Please can all families please ensure that their ParentPay accounts have been settled, to save our admin team the job of phone calls to chase these up.

We wish your child every success in the final week of their GCSEs. They have shown determination, resilience, and commitment to achieving their very best.

The Year 11 Prom celebration event takes place on Friday 30th June. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the end of the important milestone of finishing your child’s time at secondary school. We would love to see as many of our families on site for the students’ arrival to the prom, so please do come and support this incredible community event if you are able to between the window of 6.30-7.30pm to give the students a wonderful greeting on arrival.

Yours faithfully
