Music at CVC
Cottenham Village College prides itself on combining very high academic standards with a genuine commitment to the development of the “whole person”. Our curricular and wider curricular provision is a key element of this and music is, of course, central to this offer.
The college has a long and rich tradition of music making. Our students have gone on to teach music, compose for TV and film, record professional albums, train in Royal Opera Academies, work professionally backstage in several productions, independently produce professional and semi-professional shows, and become musical directors of several London productions. For students to achieve such a vast array of careers, the college aims to provide opportunities, where possible, for students to work alongside professionals.
Cottenham Village College instrumental tuition
Why study an instrument? As you may be aware, learning an instrument is known to improve performance in all academic subjects and as a school this is a highly valued part of our wider curriculum. Please complete the interest form below if your child is wishing to learn an instrument in school in the next academic year 2023-24. Please note that information will be responded to between 7th – 12th July 2023
How instrument lessons fit into the school day: Please note that it is only possible to study one instrument in school to prevent issues of timetabling in similar lessons during a school week and that popular instruments have limited places. Lessons are between 20-30 minutes and are rotated during the school day, where possible.
Who are our teachers? Lessons are taught by a range of tutors including a mix of private tutors and Cambridgeshire Music.
