letter to parents 5.9.2023

Dear Parents/Carers

We are expecting warm weather tomorrow and for the rest of the week. Therefore, due to the warm temperatures, the school blazer will be optional for this week (these will be compulsory from Monday 11th September). Although we have warmer weather, the usual expectations remain for shirts to be tucked in and ties worn correctly. Skirts and tailored shorts can be worn as part of the uniform to be more comfortable in the warmer weather. If you choose for your child to wear a skirt, a reminder the expectation is for these to be knee length. If you have had issues in sourcing correct uniform for the start of the year or have had a delivery delay, please do get in touch as we may have some items we are able to lend to families as a stop-gap. If your child has any last-minute concerns about uniform in the morning, please do remind them to speak to our staff at the Boutique on arrival to school (located in our dining room), where we are able to support students for a positive start to the day.

Students should bring a named water bottle with them each day. There are opportunities to refill these before school, during break and lunch and after school. Students are not permitted to leave lessons to refill bottles and therefore if your child drinks a lot, they may wish to bring two bottles with them.

Timetables are available on MCAS for all students.  For our new Y7 students you should have received an invitation to join MCAS.  Please follow the instructions to access your accounts, once you have done this you will be able to see the timetable.  If you are experiencing difficulties accessing MCAS please contact Cottenham reception and you will receive some advice.  Please ensure students check which days they have PE so they know when to bring their kits in.

It is worth noting that there will be no extended form in the morning and students should go straight into lesson 1.

Finally, a reminder to please top up lunch accounts where needed to ensure your child is able to purchase a snack or a meal at break or lunch if you wish to use the on-site catering provision.

We look forward to welcoming the students back to school tomorrow.
